As a matter of fact, Queen Mary hired the services of expert architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, to build one for her. On the other hand, socialite Mrs. Thorne collected miniatures, worldwide. These included rooms that showcased both American and European designs.
From that time until now, doll houses have been manufactured as toys. Though the antique types were being collected by enthusiasts for a long time, this hobby only began, once more, in the 70s. Collectors displayed their prized items in either their homes or exhibits.
